(Click on underlined words in text to go to that website page)

Prospect Hill, located just 15 miles East of Charlottesville, VA, is an authentic plantation complex consisting of the 1732 manor house with additions from the 1840s to the 1920s with seven original dependencies and former slave quarters dating from 1699 to 1850. The Sheehan family has renovated this historic manor and outbuildings into thirteen distinctive guest rooms, all with private baths and working fireplaces, and some with double Jacuzzi whirlpool baths. Every guest room and cottage is distinctive. By keeping each room's original function as intact as possible rooms vary from elegant to rustic but all lodging rooms are charming and romantic with queen size beds and modern amenities.

Our two candlelight dining rooms have been serving the finest culinary delights for more than 28 years to locals and overnight guests. We offer MAP package lodging rates (from $295 to $595) that include wine and snacks in room on arrival, pre-dinner wine reception, the complete five course dinner, breakfast-in-bed (or in the dining room), and all staff gratuities. For dinner guests our daily menu is usually $59 per person (5% VA sales tax and gratuity not included). Dinner is served at 8 PM on Fri and Sat and at 7 PM Mon thru Thurs. Sunday Afternoon Plantation Dinner at $55 per person is served at 6:00 PM. These pre-fixe dinners include our complimentary wine reception, the five course dinner (three courses on Sunday) and dessert. Additional wine with dinner, 5% sales tax, and gratuities are not included with guests invited to arrive one-half hour prior for our complimentary wine reception. We invite our guests to dress for dinner as they would to visit friends. For some that means all dressed up and to others it means "dressy (or business) casual." We ask for reservations so we know how many to prepare dinner for but we encourage you to call even at the last minute as we usually can squeeze in a few more guests for dinner. All credit cards and personal checks are accepted.

The grounds at Prospect Hill are magnificent with many of the original 1840 plantings of trees, including the rarest magnolia in the United States, forming an arboretum (tree garden). There is a lovely swimming pool with shade pavilion as well as many private places to relax on our 50 acres of grounds as well as a large Garden Pavilion for quiet reflection, the site of hundreds of wedding ceremonies at Prospect Hill. Prospect Hill has a reputation as the premier wedding and small meeting location in Virginia. A large white tent will house the wedding reception of your dreams among ancient trees overlooking still meadows. The inn staff prepares a sumptuous wedding repast for as few as 25 up to 250 guests. Smaller parties can also be accommodated indoors in the Rose Room, the 1845 ballroom.

Please browse our website for more info, pictures, and virtual tours or call us at 800/277-0844 and one of our staff innkeepers will be happy to assist you.

We are looking forward to your visit.
